Regulation on Protection Against Non-Ionizing Radiation

The purpose of this regulation is to protect people from harmful or annoying non-ionizing radiation.

1. This Ordinance regulates:

a. the limitation of emissions of electric and magnetic fields with frequencies ranging from 0 Hz to 300 GHz (radiation) generated during the operation of stationary installations;

b. the determination and assessment of radiation exposure;

c. the requirements for the designation of building zones.

2. It does not regulate the limitation of radiation emissions generated:

a. in workplaces, insofar as the radiation affects the operating personnel;

b. during the medical use of medical devices in accordance with the Medical Devices Ordinance of January 24, 19963;

c. by military installations, insofar as the radiation affects members of the armed forces;

d. by electrical devices such as microwave ovens, stoves, power tools, or mobile phones.

3. It also does not regulate the limitation of the effects of radiation on electrical or electronic medical life-support devices such as pacemakers.
